1925379 - FAIL: sapstart not found, startup of Instance failed


The instance cannot be started by startsap (for example startsap r3 <instance>) or sapcontrol (for example sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -host <hostname> -nr <instance nr> -function StartWait 300 10) command.
Following error is displayed on the screen:

<host>:<sid>adm 59> startsap r3 <instance>
Starting Startup Agent sapstartsrv
Instance Service on host <host> started
starting SAP Instance <instance>
Startup-Log is written to /home/<sid>adm/startsap_<instance>.log
/usr/sap/NC4/<instance>/exe/sapcontrol -prot NI_HTTP -nr <instance nr> -function Start
startup of Instance failed
See /home/<sid>adm/startsap_<instance>.log for details

startsap_<instance>.log displays further information regarding the above:

FAIL: sapstart not found

Much detailed flow of commands is logged in startsap.trc in home folder of <sid>adm user.

The startsap and stopsap commands are deprecated. SAP recommends that you do not use them any longer. For more information, see SAP Notes 1763593 and 809477
