When setting up or troubleshooting an FPN it is always good to perform the Connection Tests available on the Producer Object on the Consumer Portal. The Connection Tests check the connection between the consumer and producer portals. In some Portal releases there are specific tests for Remote Role Assignment (RRA) and Remote Delta Link (RDL).
The 'Producer Connection Test' tests the connection between the consumer and producer portals. This test consists of three checks:
- Checks if a producer object exists for the producer;
- Receive the WSDL file through the handshake URL;
- Parse the WSDL file to extract the different port URLs.
Sometimes the system is not able to open the connection and get the WSDL file and you get the error: “Could not retrieve the WSDL file; the handshake URL may not exist or may be invalid”. See image below.
You may find the same error message on a place other than the System Connection Tests.
The first test that is generally made in this situation is to get the WSDL file generator URL, type it on the browser address bar, and navigate to it.
If you get the WSDL file it means that the following components are correct/working correctly:
WSDL file generator;
Connection to the producer portal;
The WSDL file looks like the one below:
If the 'FPN Connection' test fails to retrieve the WSDL file but you are able to retrieve it when navigating to it by typing the WSDL generator URL on a web browser, then continue reading this KBA for an additional test and possible causes.
