1840919 - Solution Manager system log (SM21) shows database connection error

Symptom

When a managed system goes down for a regularly scheduled offline backup, or if the monitored system/database is completely deactivated, many errors might show up in the SM21 logs of the Solution Manager.  For example:

01:10:34 DIA  010 200 SOLMAN_BTC    BY  2 Database error 12154 at CON
01:10:34 DIA  010 200 SOLMAN_BTC    BY  0 > con=2(databasehost:41521/SOL): ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve
01:10:34 DIA  010 200 SOLMAN_BTC    BY  0 > the connect identifier specified

 

07:09:54 DIA 059 100 SM_EFWK BY 2 Database error 12170 at CON
07:09:54 DIA 059 100 SM_EFWK BY 0 > con=2 (dbhostname:1595/SID): ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout
07:09:54 DIA 059 100 SM_EFWK BY 0 > occurred
07:09:54 DIA 059 100 SM_EFWK BY 1 Database error 12170

 

The user shown in SM21 might also be the Extractor Framework user SM_EFWK.
