The travel management business process demands an integrated solution for the management of the full trip life cycle; pre-trip approval, online booking, and expense reporting.
In 2009, SAP’s strategy for SAP Travel Management made a significant change. SAP partnered with the two global market leaders in online booking; GetThere by Sabre and e-Travel Management by Amadeus.
There are many advantages to work with these two partners, which are specialists in Travel Planning. The new travel rules will be available faster for the SAP end-user and changes regarding fares and providers are immediately taken into account without double maintenance in the SAP IMG. Development of new features (new processes during the online booking) will be transparent for SAP customers. As the business is outsourced outside SAP, there is no need to install a note or a Support Package to integrate a new feature. The partners (GetThere and eTravel) handle this themselves. Only the communication and the integration of data from these partners into SAP is maintained (per correction and/or new services).
