With the introduction of SAP Netweaver 7.20 and the 7.20 Kernel which has been back ported to all prior releases of SAP Netweaver as described in SAP Note "1629598: SAP Kernel 720 will replace older kernel versions" it is required that you manually assemble the Kernel Media as it is a composite media, that is, you must construct it from four component media which can be obtained from the SAP Software Distribution Center (SWDC) page for your specific release.
- With this SAP Knowledge based article you will be able to confirm you have correctly constructed the Kernel Media so as to ensure you do not encounter any issues during the installation process such as warnings about unexpected or missing media labels as found in the Label.asc files.
- The method outlined in this note does not apply to SAP Netweaver 7.30 Systems as Netweaver 7.30 uses a pre compiled Kernel media.
SAPINST is now part of the SAP Software Provisioning Manager and the SAP Installation Master Media have been removed from the SAP Software Distribution Center.
See SAP KBA: #1825724 - SAP Software Provisioning Manager has replaced the SAP Installation Master Media as of SAP Netweaver 7.0 SR3 or greater.
- SAP Netweaver 7.0 (All SP Levels / All EHPs) except SAP Netweaver 7.3.
