1388240 - How does Trusted Authentication work?

Symptom

  • Have a need to understand how Trusted Authentication works
  • Trusted Authentication workflow not behaving as expected
  • Trusted Authentication works with some users, but not others

Important to NOTE: SAP can assist with SAP product issues with trusted authentication such as setting up the enterprise Plug-In, the trustedprincipal.conf, verifying that it works when a username is provided with query_string. However in most cases the username for trusted authentication is provided via 3rd party products and configuration which are not SAP responsibility. 3rd party authentication/configuration issues do not qualify for very high support, production go lives, or development escalations. Please seek your own 3rd party experts, or external consultants for these types of issues. Refer to SAP Notes 83020 or 1054121 for more information in regards to What is consulting what is support. SAP can provide assistance to help troubleshoot problems with 3rd party products via this KBA on a best effort basis.
