3099064 - Are SAP service definitions needed on a stand-alone DB instance ?

Symptom

  • A linux box is running a standalone db with no SAP software installed on the system.
  • Do customers need to define all the services on DB standalone instances as done on systems hosting SAP app-servers?
  • Example below:

    sapdp00   3200/tcp -> sapdp99   3299/tcp
    sapgw00   3300/tcp-> sapgw99   3399/tcp
    sapgw00s   4800/tcp-> sapgw99s   4899/tcp
    sapsp00   3400/tcp-> sapsp99   3499/tcp
