The following Error occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC):
Error: An internal server error occurred in the SAP Analytics Cloud agent: UNABLE_TO_REFINE_SELECTION
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.21.11
Reproducing the Issue
- Create Model off BW
- Error is displayed
Cause
- As from C4A agent version 1.0.303, the model import behavior was improved in order to reduce memory consumption for both C4A agent and also of the BW system.
- We use the BW safety belt to restrict the amount of data that will be fetched by the cloud agent to 5 million cells (or a smaller value if your BW safety belt does not permit that many cells).
- If that threshold is hit, we read the members of the selected characteristics - one characteristic at a time and without selecting any key figures - and use the members for splitting the result set.
- At this stage we did not consider the case of zero value suppression, where rows will be skipped if the condition for zero suppression is met - which is basically always the case if no measures are selected.
- No members will be found for any characteristic and we the C4A agent is not able to split the result set into smaller parts.
Resolution
- A fix is scheduled for a future release of the Cloud Agent
- Workaround: deactivate zero suppression in the BW query.
