3015223 - Error "The system could not calculate a value for unknown reasons" when showing totals for a calculated measure in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

When selecting the option "Show Totals" in a chart that contains calculated measures and those calculated measures contain if/then statements that reference other objects in the model, you get a blank total and the error "The system could not calculate a value for unknown reasons" shows up in the formula bar.
