For country The Philippines (The Philippines is an example) the legal currency is PHP - Philippine Peso. For the need of your business activity, you create a custom currency ZPH - Custom Philippine.
When you maintain material cost the default currency that shows is PHP. You would like the custom currency ZPH to show instead.

Custom Currency is not supported.

This is the normal designed system behavior.
The custom currency functionality is not supported and it purpose is for reporting. Only the main currency as per the Set of Books can be used for the material costing.
