3005071 - Numeric Point Time Variance Incorrect when created with date filter in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

  • Variance values are corrupted in a Numeric Point chart, if the chart is built on calculated measures with a date filter.
  • If the date is used as a dimension, the variance values will be correct, see the same in a Bar/Column chart.

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.22.1

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log on to SAC tenant.
  2. Create a story with Numeric Point chart on sample model [BestRunJuice_SampleModel].
  3. Under Primary measure:
    1. Create a calculated measure using Count Dimensions with Aggregation operation. Select [Location] as Aggregation Dimensions, and name it e.g. "Location Count".
    2. Create a calculated measure type Restricted Measure, for measure select [Location Count], that we have created in step 1. As a Dimensions select [Product], and Values or Input Controls [Carbonated Drinks]. Name it e.g. "Product Count".
  4.  From Primary Values remove the calculated measure [Location Count].
  5. Add a filter on Date (Range):
    • Create a custom Current Date Input Control [Current Date] with Granularity as Year and Date as 2016.
    • Select Granularity as Year, and then keep Look Back and Look Ahead as 0 to get range "2016 - 2016".
    1. => A new story filter appears and the numeric point chart only shows the value of  [Product Count] in 2016.
  6. Select Compare To > Previous Year from context menu to add one variance.
    1. => The variance value (number) will appear behind the current measure value.
  7. Now create a Bar/Column chart to verify the variance values:
  8. Insert a chart and convert it to Bar/Column.
  9. Chart orientation should be Vertical (optional).
  10. Select [Product Count] as Measure.
  11. Select [Date] as Dimension.
  12. Select Compare To > Previous Year from context menu to add one variance.
    1. => The variance value (number) will appear behind the current measure value.
  13. Compare the variance values between 2015 and 2016 of the two charts:
    • Numeric Point chart => not correct value
    • Bar/Column chart => correct value
