2994267 - HANA DB partitioning is failing with out of memory error

  • The partitioning is failing, because of memory issues which was caused by large tables.
  • In this case it was an ACDOCA table, but can be any table with large number of records.
  • If you collect the FSD, here you can find the Out of memory dump ,where you can see the following top allocator:

Top "M_HEAP_MEMORY" allocators (component, name, size). Ordered descending by exclusive_size_in_use.
    1: Column Store Tables:                        Pool/ColumnStore/Main/Uncompressed                                   1.65tb (1698287448416b)

As we can see it almost reached the Global allocation limit:
The Global allocation limit is: GLOBAL_ALLOCATION_LIMIT (GAL) = 1.73tb (1932601048472b)
