This Knowledge Base Article is to document all major enhancements to be aware of in our b2011 release. Also provides one stop shop for all out Platform Foundation documentation.

After: We have redesigned the home page user. This is currently an opt in option for customer instances in b2011 release and can be enabled via Upgrade center page.

LOD-SF-PLT-THMWEF-3035SAP Fiori Standards Applied to Page Header

We've updated the global page header so that it's consistent with the latest SAP Fiori design standards.

Before: SAP Fiori header upgrade is optional.

After: Starting b2011 release, instances will universally be upgraded to the new SAP Fiori header, however, administrators have an option to opt out by disabling the feature from Admin Center > Company System & Logo settings page.

Qualtrics

Lithuanian LocaleWe've added the Lithuanian locale (lt_LT) as a language option.

Before: There is no option to use Lithuanian locale in bizX.

After: Starting b2011, administrators can enable Lithuanian locale in BizX. If the locale is enabled, users can switch to this language when accessing their accounts.

Scheduled Jobs

A recurring job request is automatically cancelled for the Live Profile Export, Live Profile Import, or Batch Upload Employee Photos job type if within 90 days, the scheduled jobs fail consistently and there are at least 100 failed jobs for the job request.

The job owner and concerned recipients will get email notifications accordingly.

Before: Failing jobs in provisioning will keep on failing until unless they are cancelled > not submitted status.

After: Starting b2011, the following jobs will automatically be cancelled from Provisioning > Manage Scheduled Job page if the system detects that the jobs failed at least 100 times for the last 90 days.

Role Based Permissions

Before: RBP to user group report is not including INACTIVE users, hence administrators are unable to identify which permission groups the INACTIVE records are a member of.

After: Starting b2011 release, "status" field has been added to the RBP to user group report which allows administrators to identify which users (both ACTIVE and INACTIVE) are members of the permission groups created in the system.

Proxy and Proxy Management

We've disabled the legacy Picklists Management tool and added a message reminding you to contact us and prepare for picklist migration.

Before: In the previous version, the legacy Picklists Management tool could be used to import and export picklists.

After: If you haven't migrated to Picklist Center yet, you can still access the Picklists Management page but you can't use it to export or import picklists. If necessary, we can re-enable it for you to help you prepare for picklist migration.

Legacy picklists are being retired. We disabled the legacy Picklists Management tool to encourage all unmigrated customers to plan for migration.

LOD-SF-PLT-PCKPLA-12584Planned Retirement of the Legacy Picklist Import Job TypeAs part of the picklist migration effort, we're planning to retire the legacy Import Picklists job type. Please prepare for its eventual retirement.

Before: There was no announcements to discontinue import picklist job type.

After: For now, there's no functional change and jobs of this type still run as before. However, we plan to retire it in a future release. To prepare, you can replace the Import Picklists job with an MDF Data Import (FTP) job instead.

After picklist migration, the Import Picklists job type is obsolete because the legacy picklist format is no longer supported.

User Account Management

Before: There is no warnings in the UI and no count of users affected when resetting user passwords for group of users.

After: Admins can now see the number of users that you’ve selected when resetting passwords for group of users. You can also see a double confirmation popup when you click the Reset Now button.

This will help avoid mistakenly resetting passwords for a group of users.

LOD-SF-PLT-UIMPLA-11482Email Notification Enhancement for Personal Information Import

Enhancements for Personal information import - email notification was implemented this b2011 release to avoid data leakage resulting for emails to not be received by admin users.

Before: Previously, when you imported personal information using the Import Extended User Information admin tool, if there were data rejected, the email notification contained not only index information such as line number, user ID, and error messages, but also a complete copy of all the rejected data. If the email notification file got too large, you didn't receive the email notification.

After: Now, the email notification contains only index information to prevent any data leakage.

 

LOD-SF-PLT-UIMPLA-12756Label Enhancement for the Exclude Contingent Worker Job Parameter

As a company provisioner, when you create or view Employees Export jobs in Provisioning, you can see that the label of the Exclude Contingent Worker job parameter is now changed into Exclude Contingent Worker (only works for Employee Central instances that have enabled the Contingent Workers feature).

Before: Field label was "Exclude Contingent Worker" and no indication that this parameter only works for Employee Central enabled instances.

After: The field label is now changed to "Exclude Contingent Worker (only works for Employee Central instances that have enabled the Contingent Workers feature)" to indicate that the feature only works for Employee central enabled instances only.

LOD-SF-PLT-UIMPLA-1843Manager Information for Inactive Users

You can now update information of matrix manager, custom manager, second manager, and proxy manager for inactive users using the Employee Import admin tool.

Before: For non-employee central instances, admin has no option to update the following fields via employee import option even if "Process Inactive Employees" flag is enabled.

  • custom manager

After: This is now supported starting b2011 release. Admins can update the values for the fields mentioned above using Employee Import option for inactive records.

LOD-SF-PLT-IPRPLA-13183Tooltip Enhancement for IP Restriction Management

The tooltip of the IP Restriction Management permission has been enhanced into Allow roles to add IP restrictions, remove IP restrictions, and exclude external users from IP restrictions in the IP Restriction Management page.

You can access this permission through Manage Permission Roles  Permission  Administrator Permissions  Manage System Properties. Permission > Administrator Permissions > Manage System Properties ."

Before: When hovering on the "?" icon on IP Restriction management permission, it does not provide further details on what the feature is for.

After: Further details were provided when admin hovers on the "?" in IP restriction management permission.

Purge [Data Retention Management / Data Retention Time Management]

After: There has been changes in the UI when navigating to Data retention management page.

  • DRTM, DRM, and legacy purge functions are moved to the new tab Manual Data Purge.
  • User Permanent Purge was renamed as System Identifier Purge.
  • Auto Data Purge is only visible in preview instances.
LOD-SF-PLT-DRMAFT-15303Access Control Over DRTM Purge Reports Based on Countries/Regions

You can now control access to the reports of DRTM purge requests based on DRTM-enabled countries/regions.

Before: Any admin user with permission to create purge requests and approve purge requests are able to view purge reports generated in the system, regardless.

After: In the current version, when you enable access control over DRTM purge reports in Admin Center, only users assigned with country/region-specific permission have access to purge reports of DRTM purge requests.

LOD-SF-PLT-DRMAFT-17179Auto Data Purge in Preview Instances Includes Attachments and More Audit Data

Audit data purged automatically in preview instances now includes attachments and audit data from more modules. Data purge is processed by the Auto Data Purge feature in Data Retention Management.

Before: Administrators are unable to set retention time for different data available in Preview instances.

After: Starting b2011 release, Customers can find Auto Data Purge Tab in Preview Instances under Data Retention Management page to Purge Attachments and Person/ Non-Person related audit data. 

 

Audit

We've enhanced the Read Audit feature so that you can configure fields in different modules as sensitive for read access logging. You now also have an overview of all allowable sensitive personal data fields and the current quota usage.

Before: In the previous version, only ethnicity, minority, and ssn types of sensitive personal data fields were available for read audit. These fields weren’t configurable. If read audit was enabled, read access to these fields was always logged and available in read audit reports. There was only a central switch to enable or disable read audit on the configuration page.

After: In the current version, we include more fields from different areas for read audit. You can configure any of them as sensitive and include them in read audit reports as long as the quota allows. The read audit configuration page has been enhanced to include the field list and quota usage.

LOD-SF-PLT-CHAPLA-12883RBP Static Group Membership Change ReportA new type of change audit report, RBP Static Group Membership Change Report, is now available.

Before: There is no change audit report available to track changes performed in RBP static groups.

After: You can access the new change audit report through Admin Center  Change Audit Reports  Create Configuration Data Report  Role Based Permission.

You can now better track the changes made to the members of RBP static groups. For example, who was removed from a static group and when did the removal happen.

LOD-SF-PLT-RALPLC-24782Read Audit Data PurgeWe've set a 6-month default retention period for read audit data. If you haven't defined a custom retention period for an object, its read audit data is subject to data purge after it reaches the default retention period.

Before: In the previous version, read audit data wasn't purged if you didn't maintain custom retention periods.

After: Starting from 2H 2020, SAP Cloud Operations will delete read audit data after the grace period ends if it meets our purge criteria.

SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS)

When you upgrade to the SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service, you can use the monitoring tool to keep track of your upgrade and its status.

Before: Administrators are only using Recent Upgrades pag eto track IAS upgrade status.

After: This change will both be visible in the UI after the production release on November 20.

The upgrade monitoring tool is available, in the Upgrade Center, after you've initiated your upgrade. When you've chosen the option Initiate SuccessFactors SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service in the Upgrade Center, you can access to the monitoring tool, where you can monitor each stage of your upgrade.

The monitoring tool tracks the following: 

  • Start Upgrade
  • Validate customer and tenant details
  • Set up SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service Tenant
  • Configure SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service Tenant
  • Set up SAP Cloud Platform Identity Provisioning Service Tenant
  • Upgrade the SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service Tenant
  • Confirmation Emails
  • Upgrade Complete.
LOD-SF-PLT-IASPLU-76515Enhancements to the Upgrade SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service

When you upgrade to the SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service, you can select the tenant that you'd like use for the upgrade or you can request a new tenant.

Before: In the previous version, you were prompted to enter the URL for the tenant that you wanted to upgrade.

After: After you initiate your upgrade and enter your credentials, the SAP Cloud Platform Authentication Service upgrade lists the URL, Tenant Type, and Region for each of your tenants that are eligible for the upgrade. If the tenant that you want to upgrade is located in a different region or you don't see the tenant that you want to upgrade, please contact customer support.

We created this feature so that you can choose an existing tenant or request a new tenant for your upgrade to the SAP Cloud Platform Identity Authentication Service.

Instance Refresh Tool

Before: The tool allows performing a refresh from a test / development / QA instance to a live production tenant.

After: Instance refresh tool will block any refresh requests from a non-production SOURCE to a live Production TARGET instance. Proceeding with submitting the request will result for the refresh to be "VALIDATION FAILED" with the message informing the administrators that this is not supported.

Instance Synchronization Tool

You can sync MDF Data artifacts from one instance to another only if the MDF object has less than 50,000 records.

Before: Administrators are allowed to submit a sync for MDF objects that has more than 50,000 records resulting for the sync to fail or completed with errors.

After: When administrators attempt to submit a sync request for MDF objects containing more than 50,000 records an error message will show in the UI advising the user to refine the results by using the search filters. This is a guardrail to improve system stability and avoid disruption of your system.

LOD-SF-PLT-ISTTLS-16159Sync Role-Based Permissions ArtifactsYou can now sync role-based permission artifacts successfully even if there are any discrepancies between the source and the target instance.

Before: In the previous version, while syncing the role-based permission artifact, the instance sync failed if there were any discrepancies between the source and the target instance.

After: In the current version, the role-based permission roles are synced successfully even if there are any discrepancies between the source and the target instance. However, the instance sync is completed with warnings. You must manually update the discrepancies in the target instance by following the recommendations showing in the sync report.
