Symptom

  • The new released SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect 3.x now ships as a standalone executable with an embedded application server
    • There's no longer need to deploy a dedicated Tomcat instance
    • The configuration is now centralized in a single location
  • How to install and start SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect 3.x without Tomcat

Environment

  • SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect 3.x

Resolution

  1. Download the zip file from Support launchpad.
  2. Navigate to the Support Launchpad and click "Downloads" within the top search bar.
  3. Search for "SAP BOE LIVE DATA CONNECT" and download the latest zip file, eg.
    • Windows: BOELDC3401_0-70007132.ZIP
    • Linux: BOELDC3401_0-70007133.ZIP
  4. Unzip the file where you want to install SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect 3.x.
  5. In the unzipped folder, you need to unzip another file again.
    • Windows: cs_ina_ldc-3.4.1-win64_x64.zip
    • Linux: cs_ina_ldc-3.4.1-linux_x64.zip
  6. Go to the sub-folder: cs_ina_ldc-3.4.1\
  7. Run the executable (i.e., LDC.exe for Windows) to generate the default configuration files.
    => Note: The installation is going to fail, which is normal behavior. You need to run the executable once to get the configuration files and configure them.
  8. Configure the ldc.properties file under conf folder using the Configuring SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect section as reference.
    Mandatory Parameters as below:
    boe.nameServer Name server host and port defining the system to connect to
    boe.authenticationMode BIP authentication mode. Possible modes are:
    • saml .
    • secEnterprise, for enterprise authentication.
    • secSAPR3, for SAP authentication.
    connector.https.port The port for the LDC HTTPS server (i.e., 8443)
    connector.https.keystore.file The path to the SSL keystore.
    connector.https.keystore.password.file The file which contains password for the SSL keystore.
    cors.allowed.origins.urls List of allowed origin URLs for CORS eg. https://tenantname.eu10.sapanalytics.cloud
  9. Run the executable (i.e., LDC.exe for Windows) again.
    => You should see that the process is running successfully.
    => You can still validate it according to SAP KBA 2530385 by accessing https://<LUCHOST>:<LUCPORT>/sap/boc/ina/GetServerInfo.
    => You can also run SAP BusinessObjects Live Data Connect as a Windows service which allows it to run as a background service and restart automatically.
