2934642 - In App "Project Control", Profit Center and Functional Area are not automatically derived from the responsible cost center

Symptom

When creating project in app "Project Control", the Profit Center and Functional Area are not automatically derived from the data maintained in responsible cost center.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to app "project control" to create a project.
  2. Input field 'cost center'.
  3. The profit center is not proposed automatically based on the profit center maintained in app "Manage Cost Centers".

Cause

This is the intended system behavior.
From the perspective of common business view, neither the profit center nor the functional area needs to be the same as defined in the responsible cost center.
From the perspective of technical view, the two profit center fields (or functional area fields) are assigned to different tables, and there is no check in standard to ensure consistency between these fields.

Resolution

As a workaround, BADI(business context: Project Header) can be used to create customer own validation to ensure consistency between the two fields.
