Symptom

  • In Trace Analysis, during the Trace enabling for a system it fails and the error message is:
Trace enabling status cannot be retrieved or changed
  • On the diagnostics agent SMDAgentApplication.log of the affected system, the following exception can be found:
Initialization of JmxProxy failed.
[EXCEPTION]
com.sap.smdagent.plugins.connectors.jmx.exc.RemoteJmxException: [JmxServiceImpl2] Error accessing JmxProxy for sid [<SID>]
caused by: com.sap.smdagent.plugins.connectors.jmx.exc.RemoteJmxException: Unable to connect to connector server.; nested exception is: 
com.sap.smdagent.plugins.connectors.jmx.exc.RemoteJmxException: Exception during getInitialContext operation. Wrong security principal/credentials.
