- You receive the error 'Failed to process the job application' when applying for a job requisition from the career portal.
- You have confirmed that the causes mentioned in KBA 2467953 do not explain the issue.
- The candidate is applying to the requisition from a URL, and not from the job search page.

Reproducing the Issue
- Receive a link to apply to the job requisition.
- Complete the application, and submit it.
- Receive the error.
The candidate is applying to the job requisition using the wrong candidate profile.
If you reproduce the error with Support and ask them to check the system logs, we will see the following error message: "Unauthorized access appId :123456 by candidateId123456".
This is saying that the user with candidateId 123456 does not have permission to edit application ID 123456.
The important thing here is the candidateId. If you compare this candidateId with the actual candidateId of the candidate, you will see that they are different.
This is because the candidate has multiple candidate profiles, and when applying from the URL they are being logged in with the wrong candidate profile. Since this candidate profile is not connected to the job application, they do not have permission to submit/edit that application, and so an error occurs.
The best solution is to merge the duplicate candidate profiles using the Manage Duplicate Candidates tool, as shown in KBA 2103863. Once merged, the candidate will be applying with the correct candidate profile, and so the error will not occur.
Another solution is to run a report on the correct candidate ID to find their primaryEmail address, and then ask the candidate to login using the primaryEmail field value. KBA 2741189 explains how this report can be created.
