2902546 - How to check passwords created before password policies have been updated?

Symptom

When a password policy is modified - is there a way to see if all passwords comply to the new standards?

  • For example:
sp_passwordpolicy 'set', 'minimum password length', '4'
    go
create login test_pwd with password test

    go
sp_passwordpolicy 'set', 'minimum password length', '6'
    go

  • When logging into the system it works just fine:
    isql -Utest_pwd -Sase16 -Ptest

  • When looking at the policies – it is shown:
    sp_passwordpolicy 'list', 'minimum password length'
    go

    Policy_option                       Curr_value                     Min_value         Max_value
    ---------------------              ----------------                --------------      --------------
    minimum password length                 6                                  0                     30

    sp_configure  ‘minimum password length’ shows:                 6(default),   6(config), 6(run) value

    How can passwords be confirmed?
