When procuring service parts, the delivery address in the purchase order is no longer derived from the plant but from a storage location

With Service in SAP S/4HANA release 1911CE 'Logistics Integration’ was introduced. This feature enables service parts to be picked from a storage location to be consumed during the provision of a service.
This process also uses the configuration previously provided for the assignment of plant and storage location to service employees. However, to ensure correct processing, it was necessary to deliver both the plant AND storage location configuration as BCP content 'Assign Plant to Service Employee and Country/Region'
Whereas in previous releases, the storage location was not provided and thus the delivery address was determined by the plant, now a storage location is provided in the configuration. This storage location is be used to determine the delivery address in procurement processes.
You have the following options to influence the determination of delivery addresses:
- If you don’t use the ‘Logistics Integration’ process and you therefore don’t need the storage location assignment at service employee level, you can simply delete the storage location from the configuration.
- If you use service part procurement as well as the ‘Logistic Integration’ process, it is necessary for the ‘Logistics Integration’ process that a storage location is defined in the configuration. This storage location is also used to determine the delivery address in procurement.
- If you want to define a dedicated delivery address for a procured service part, you can create a Spare Part Recipient in the Parties Involved assignment block of the service order item. This will ensure that the service part is shipped to the address of the spare part recipient and not to the storage location.
