When creating a new Project in 'Plan Customer Projects', the dropdown help on the Information tab offers all Profit Centres for selection. However, when adding a new billing item to an existing Project, not all Profit Centres are available.

The following fields are considered by the system when determining the validity of Profit Centres within a Customer Project; Project start date, Project end date, Service Org/ Project Detail Org and Cost center. Depending on the values already filled in for the project, some Profit Centres may no longer be valid.
When a Project is intitially created, fields such as the Project duration have not yet been confirmed. Once the duration, Cost Centre and Service Org/ Project Detail Org have been added, only profit centers that remain relevant are made available.
This is the standard system behaviour. In some cases it may be feasible to simply extend the availability of the Profit Centre using apps such as 'Manage Profit Center', where the validity period can be extended to dates beyond the duration of the Project, for example.
