2820759 - Hiding a field via report wizard and setting access to specific business roles you want to allow to edit the report

Symptom

You would like to hide a field in a report so that no user can access it.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Resolution

  1. Go to the work center Business Analytics.
  2. Go to the view Design Reports.
  3. Select the report XYZ (XYZ stands for your report name).
  4. If it is a custom report edit it with the report wizard. If it is a standard report you first need to create a report copy by clicking on New, Report as Copy.
  5. Go to step 4, Characteristic properties.
  6. For the fields you want to hide, untick the option Display in Report.
  7. Save.

If you want to prevent other users from enabling these fields again, you have 2 options.

A). Use the Set Access feature on this report. This means only users with this specific business role can edit the report.

  1. Go to the work center Business Analytics.
  2. Go to the view Design Reports.
  3. Select the report XYZ (XYZ stands for your report name).
  4. Click Set Access.
  5. Then select the business role you want to allow editing of the report.
  6. Save.

B). Use the Configure Actions feature to hide the Add Fields button.

  1. Go to the work center Business Analytics.
  2. Go to the view Common Tasks.
  3. Click Configure Actions.
  4. Select the line Add Fields and click Hide.
  5. In the Business Roles table you can enable Add Fields for specific roles as you wish.
