HTTP authentication is not enabled on the Apache web servers by default. However, sometimes it is useful to temporarily enable it in order to perform some tests, for example during a go-live where the website is open to the Internet but shouldn't be available to the general public.
When doing so, one might configure HTTP Digest authentication on Apache 2.4 to protect the website with an authentication prompt.
The issue is observed on iOS devices and on Safari when using macOS. Accessing the website on these devices will continually prompt for the user to authenticate despite providing correct credentials. Other environments work fine.
- Any hybris version
- Apache 2.4
- HTTP Digest authentication is configured
- Any iOS browser or Safari browser on macOS
