You have created a joined data source. When you perform a check, the system returns the following messages:
'Data types of fields ABC DEF in the join are not compatible (error)' (ABC and DEF stand for the technical IDs of the joined fields)
'The Field GHI of type JKL does not fit to field MNO of type PQR' (GHI and MNO stand for the labels of the joined fields. JKL and PQR stand for the field types)

Reproducing the Issue
Go to the work center Business Analytics, View Design Data Sources.
- Click on New > Joined Data Source.
- Add the data sources you want to join and set the join conditions as required.
- in C4C: Click on Check. In ByD: Click on Check and Repair.
The system returns the above messages.
You have joined fields of different types and they are not compatible. The most common case is that you have joined an ID (for example the account number) with a UUID field (for example the account name).
When you use PDI or extension fields for joining, the system may not recognize the data type of your custom field and the message may be returned even though the fields are compatible.
You will need to change your join conditions. It is mandatory that the fields are returned in the same format (e.g. ID, UUID etc). Otherwise the system cannot recognize that the field values match and the join is not successful.
- If your PDI or extension field returns the value in the same format and the join works as designed, you can ignore the warning message.
The easiest way to check if a join is working is to create an inner join. This join type will only return those entries that are common to all joined data sources. If the join conditions fail, no results will be returned.
