2674335 - E-mail Field in Account Accepts Strange E-mail Formats


You are inserting e-mail information for an Account in its header. However, the system accepts inputs like test (with space character before @) and test@test (without a suffix .com for example).

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Customers work center.
  2. Open the Accounts view.
  3. Open the Account ABC (where ABC stands as Account ID).
  4. Click in the Edit button.
  5. Enter the e-mail information like 'test' or 'test@gmail'.
  6. Click in the Save button.

You notice that the system allows you to save this e-mail information; your impression is that this should not happen.


The system e-mail checks are in accordance with RFC 5322 and RFC 3492. They allow this kind of format, these are valid e-mail addresses.


This is the system current standard behavior.

If you need to have a different e-mail checks in the accounts header e-mail field, you may contact your implementation manager to help with such request or approach directly the SAP Cloud Service Center.
