Symptom
Item type for the product changed automatically in the intercompany sales order.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
-
Go to Sales Orders work center.
- Go to Sales Orders view.
- Search and Edit the sales order XYZ. (XYZ represents the Sales Order number)
- Click on View All and navigate to Items tab.
- The Item Type maintained is DEF. (DEF represents the Item type of the Product in sales order XYZ)
- Go to Sales Order view.
- Search and Edit the sales order PQR. (PQR represents the intercompany Sales order number)
- Click on View All and navigate to Items tab.
- The Item Type maintained is JKL. (JKL represents the Item type of the Product in sales order PQR)
You are expecting the system to maintain the same item type in both sales orders.
Cause
The prerequisite for determining the correct item type is
1.sales organization and distribution channel combination, which is maintained in the product master data under sales tab(also in product master data the item type should be correct item type that if sales order is related ot project then item type should be related to projects)
or
2.For sales order to have correct Sales organization, the sales unit has to be determined correctly in sales order.
Resolution
For Sales unit to be determined correctly you have to maintain determination rule.
If no determination rule maintained for sales unit, system selects the default item type
- Go to the Organizational Management work center.
- Go to the Work Distribution view.
- Go to the Organizational Work Distribution subview.
- Select Sales Unit for Sales.
- Select the Edit button.
- You can maintain the determination rule for each company.
