2638388 - iContent as a web server

Symptom

Is it possible to access the iContent content URLs directly in the browser, like a web server, and not only through LMS?

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Cause

That would not be possible. The iContent servers are not externally accessible. This prevents security issues if the links are accessed and the files get corrupted, stolen or something malicious is performed to the content stored in the server. The only way to be able to access the iContent courses/data is through the authentication that happens within LMS

Resolution

It would be possible to try to use another content server (your own content server) to access the URLs directly in the browser. Please, contact your IT team for further information about it.

Note: in case the course is successfully set to be used directly via browser, it would be necessary to have this setup to communicate with SAP SuccessFactors Learning, so the course would be completed/failed by the Learning user. To try to have this scenario working, it is possible to reach out to the SAP team that delivers Professional Services and/or an SAP Certified Partner (2149831).
