You are migrating fixed assets and you did not find the field to enter the fixed asset id in the migration template.
SAP Business Bydesign.
Reproducing the Issue
Go to Business Configuration work center.
- Overview > Show > Activities and search for Prepare for Data Migration and click on it.
- Select Download migration templates.
- Search for Fixed Assets or Fixed Assets (extended) and click on Download and open the template.
You find Inventory ID instead of Fixed Asset ID to enter.
The entry under Inventory ID is automatically assigned to the fixed asset, which allows to uniquely identify a physical object in an inventory especially for legacy assets with an existing ID in the source system. Enter the unique alphanumeric number used to identify the fixed asset.
For the Fixed Asset IDs, the prefix 00 is assigned to each predefined fixed asset class. This means that the first fixed asset is assigned the number: 1, the next 2, and so on.
If you want to use different number ranges for each fixed asset class you can adjust the Number Range. For example, if you prefer to have the number 10000000001, enter 01 in the Number Range.
So, based on your asset class that you assign in the template and the number range you set, the fixed asset id will be assigned by the system automatically to the chosen range you give in this setting.
