The error message Serial Id already exist is trigger on creating New Registered Product using same combination of Serial id, Customer and Product.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Installed Base work center.
  2. Go to the Registered Products view.
  3. Search for the Registered Product PQR (where PQR is Registered Product Id with Customer as ABC1 , Product as LMN1 and Serial Id as XYZ1) having status as Block/Obsolete .
  4. Now click on New Registered Product and enter Customer as ABC1 , Product as LMN1 and Serial Id as XYZ1.
  5. Click on the Save button.

An error Serial Id already XYZ1 exist is trigger.


There is a validation to prevent the creation of new Registered Product with the same combination of Customer, Product, and Serial Id.

Please notice that there are no standard validations to prevent duplicate Serial IDs for Registered Products when the Product is different. This is to fech multiple company scenarios that work with the same Serial ID for multiple Registered Products.


Customer can create a custom solution (via SDK) to add aditional validations for the Serial ID.
