2563701 - Period Closed for Operational Postings When Releasing VAT Return

You are trying to release a new VAT Return, however a period lock error is raised, even though the period in the reporting company is open.

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to Tax Management work center.
2. Go to VAT Return view.
3. Highlight the relevant tax return.
4. Click Release.

The error messages are shown as follows:

'Release of tax return <ID> failed'
'Period <accounting period> in fiscal year <year> closed for closing step Operational postings'

The period for one of the companies mentioned under Company Result tab is blocked, hence the error message is raised.

You need to check the related companies in the VAT return and check to which one the period is closed.

1. Go to Tax Management work center.
2. Go to VAT Return view.
3. Open the relevant return.
4. Click View All.
5. Go to Companies' Results tab.

Make sure that the concerned period is open in all the related companies of this tab. After that, the period lock error is not raised.
