A report uses several measures. Upon adding a custom member as filter, the pivot query designer displays an error message preventing the filter to be added.

Reproducing the Issue
1. Create a pivot query and add the following measures:
- Terminations – Voluntary
- Terminations – Involuntary
2. Add a filter, e.g a custom member built from Separation Reason
3. The error message 'Cannot add the specified function with the selected measures' is displayed
If the filter used for the calculation of the measures included in the query is the same as the dimension used in the Custom Member, the report objects to using the same dimension twice.
e.g. The Terminations – Voluntary and Terminations – Involuntary measures filter on Separation Reason in their own calculations. If you try to use them with a Custom Member based on Separation Reason, the report will not allow you to use the same dimension or filter.
You can check the notes or the Explain text of the measure to see how it is calculated and what dimensions are used for the measure.
In the example above, to keep using the Custom Member, you might have to do without the derived measures and filter the base Terminations measure manually. If even this doesn't work with the Custom Member, you can create additional versions of the Custom Member which also filter on Voluntary and Involuntary.
