Cause

There are many possibilities that can lead to the above issue, often associated with dependencies between scoping elements and questions. Known causes are as follows:

  1. Obsolete scoping element Sales Lead Management is selected.
  2. Scoping element Banking is selected, but Lead Management is not.
  3. Question "Do you record chat activities?" is selected when "Do you want to record messaging activity?" is not, or vice-versa.
  4. Question "Do you want to enable Evernote?" is selected, but the Opportunities scoping element is not in scope.
  5. Scoping element Utilities Call Centre and Service is selected, but Sales Quote is not.
  6. Scoping elements Opportunity and Sales Order have been selected, but Sell Standard Products is not.

Resolution

I. Obsolete scoping element Sales Lead Management is selected.

Sales Lead Management is obsolete in C4C, but the question still remains as removing it would interfere in systems that have sales lead from before the functionality was deprecated. To solve this, simply remove this scoping element as per the instructions below:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 3, Scoping.
  6. Expand Sales, then expand New Business.
  7. Uncheck the Sales Lead Management option.

II. Scoping element Banking is selected, but Lead Management is not.

The Banking functionality relies on Lead data — thus, scoping Baking without Lead Management is not consistent. To resolve this:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 3, Scoping.
  6. Expand Sales.
  7. Mark the checkbox for the Lead Management option.

Alternatively, if you do not wish to scope Lead Management or use Banking, you can remove Banking from the scope:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 3, Scoping.
  6. Expand Industry Solution.
  7. Uncheck the Banking option.

III. Question "Do you record chat activities?" is selected when "Do you want to record messaging activity?" is not, or vice-versa.

The two mentioned questions for are dependent, so they should both be scoped. To correct this:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 4, Questions.
  6. Expand Sales, then expand Account and Activity Management.
  7. Select the Activity Management scoping element.
  8. In the right side of the screen, navigate to the Activity Types section.
  9. One of the above-mentioned questions ("Do you record chat activities?" or "Do you want to record messaging activity?") will be unchecked.
  10. Mark the checkbox to scope it.

IV. Question "Do you want to enable Evernote?" is selected, but the Opportunities scoping element is not in scope.

The Evernote integration only works for opportunities in the current version. As such, having it scoped without also selecting the Opportunities scoping element leads to an inconsistent state of the Business Configuration.

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 3, Scoping.
  6. Expand Sales, then expand New Business.
  7. Mark the checkbox for the Opportunities option.

If you would rather remove Evernote integration from the scope, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 4, Questions.
  6. Expand Communication and Information Exchange, then expand People Collaboration, Intranet and External Services.
  7. Select the Communities, Document Management and External Services option.
  8. In the right side of the screen, navigate to the Evernote Integration section.
  9. Uncheck question "Do you want to enable Evernote?"

V. Scoping element Utilities Call Center and Service is selected, but Sales Quote is not

The Utilities Call Center and Service element depends on question "You can use a template to send sales orders to your customers." also being in scope. This question is automatically scoped by the system once the Sales Quote scoping element is selected.

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 3, Scoping.
  6. Expand Sales, then expand New Business.
  7. Mark the checkbox for the Sales Quote option.

VI. Scoping elements Opportunity and Sales Order have been selected, but Sell Standard Products is not.

The scoping elements for Opportunity and for Sales Order have dependency in the scoping element Sell Standard Products. To solve this:

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the First Implementation project.
  4. Click Edit Project Scope.
  5. Navigate to step 3, Scoping.
  6. Expand Sales, then Product and Service Portfolio for Sales.
  7. Mark the checkbox for the Sell Standard Products option.

Once the solution has been executed, it should be possible to confirm the milestone successfully. If your scenario does not match any of the ones described above or the error persists after correction, please confirm this incident.
