2511707 - How the form calculates the overall rating when the "if-no-ratings-then-ignore-section" option is equal to "true"

One section in the PM form is unrated as a result, the section weight is being ignored when calculating the overall performance rating.

Reproducing the Issue

The section weight of the Competency section is 80% and section weight of the Goals section is equal to 20%.

 The overall calculated rating is equal to 3.

The Goal section has the "if-no-ratings-then-ignore-section" configuration set to "True". This means that the Goal section's weight (20%) will not be included in the calculation of the overall rating when all the items are unrated or when there are no items in that section.

Setting the "if-no-ratings-then-ignore-section" to true is useful, if you don't want the unrated section of the form to be included in the overall rating calculation. Setting this to false means that the form will still include the unrated section/s which will result in a lower overall performance rating.

The "if-no-ratings-then-ignore-section" value is set to "true" by default. The value can only be changed in the Form template XML.

How the form computes the overall calculated rating based on the above ratings:

 1. The competency section has 3 items, wherein each item has a rating of 3.

Get the average of the 3 items: [ (3 + 3 + 3 ) / 3] = 3

2. Multiply the average to the Competency section weight (80%): 3 * .80 = 2.4

3. Since the form will not include the Goal section since it is unrated, the 80% section weight of the  competency section will be treated as a 100%:

2.4 * 100 = 240

240 / 80 = 3 --> Overall Calculated Rating
