2459427 - Hide User Id and Username in New Hire wizard

Symptom

How to hide username and user id during a new hire or adding a contingent worker?

"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."

Environment

Employee Central: Add New Employee
Employee Central: Contingent Workforce

Resolution

You can enter a unique user name for new employees during the hire process. This value is also displayed on the Username field on the Talent Profile page.

If this field has visibility=”both”, but no value is entered during the new hire process, the system copies over the value from the Person Id field. This is also the standard behavior if userAccountInfo is not contained in the Succession Data Model.

  • It is not possible to hide these 2 fields in the Add Contingent Worker wizard using Rules or RBP. It is not possible to hide them in any of the other hire wizards either using Rules or RBP.
  • If you don’t want users to be able to specify Username during this process, then you need to disable the "userAccountInfo" element. This will apply to ALL of the "hire/rehire" wizards as well.

You can change visibility of the "person-id-external" field in the personInfo element to "view" and set allow-import="true".

Then the system will determine the UserID/Username/Person ID (based on next Person ID in Admin Center > Company System and Logo Settings).

There is no way to configure this separately for each of the different UI's (Add Contingent Worker, Add New Employee, Manage Pending Hires, Rehire Inactive Employee) and RBP/Business Rules are not able to Control this part as of today.
