Symptom
When launching content on Internet Explorer, a 404 (File or Directory not found) error is received in the browser. However when launching in Chrome or Firefox the content launches correctly.
Environment
SuccessFactors Learning Management System (LMS) - All Supported Versions
Cause
This error is caused by using special characters in the ID of the Content Object when setting it up initially. Specifically using ' in the name will cause IE to include an escape character in the launch path for the content.
Chrome and Firefox do not include escape characters. It is best practise not to use special characters or spaces in the Content Object ID as different browsers may treat these differently.
Resolution
Do not use special characters including ';' or '.' or ',' or '-' or spaces in the Content Object ID when setting them up.
