You get process communication error in the document flow of Goods and Service Receipts.
Goods And Service Confirmation cannot create a Service Confirmation.
Once your service provider has solved the errors, the system closes the errors and restarts the processes automatically.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Goods and Service Receipts work center.
- Go to the Receipts and Returns view.
- Select Show By Documents and select the relevant GSR document which contains Process Communication Error.
- Select View All and go to the Document Flow tab.
- You can see a process communication error symbol with above message.
The Process Communication Error occured because the wrong Item Type is used in the Goods and Services Receipt. When purchase order gets created from relevant service order for a Product ID: X which belongs to Item group RSTM - External Service – Time and Material, at this moment, the scenario is consistent. However when the Goods and Service Receipt is created against the product, at this point of time it is known which items/services have been consumed for the purchase order so actual items should be added and not items of the type RSTM.
This item type is only used when it is not yet known which services will be needed for the order.
In order to proceed further, you have to Cancel the existing Goods and Service Receipt document with error message and create a New Goods and Services Receipt with correct item type. You can use item type: SECO -Service Time and Material while creating the same.
Please note that once you are notified by third party as services are consumed, then you have to add actual items, therefore receive it as an actual service through goods and service receipts.
