This article describes how to generate an Excel file directly from BI4 and how to schedule the report to refresh it with new data.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
SAP Business Objects 4x
STEP #1: Design the webi report with a roambi-ready data structure. Use the xls templates available in Roambi Business to understand what the report should look like. In this example we designed a webi template for a Roambi Layers report:
This is the webi report structure:
And this is the report with data (based on the eFashion demo universe database):
STEP #2: Schedule the report to excel format to a local folder destination:
Locate the webi report, right click and select SCHEDULE
Set the frequency of the schedule (i.e. daily run at 6 AM)
Then change the output formatting to Microsoft Excel
And then change the output destination to File System (and type the folder path, and the report output name and extension).
Then submit the schedule and in few seconds the Excel file will be generated in the expected folder.
A new Excel file will be created locally on the frequency set above (for example daily refresh).
STEP #3: Run the Roambi Upload Utility.
To be able to synchronize the XLS file on the Roambi Business cloud you just need to set the output destination folder in STEP #2 with one of the folders synchronized using the Roambi Upload Utility.
Now the XLS will be auto-uploaded on the cloud every day, and all the Roambi reports based on that file will receive new data updated daily.
