How do I create a chart in Analytics Publisher?

Resolution

Note: The following documentation is relevant if you are using continuous data with no subtotals.

When creating a chart block, you have the option to create:

Table:

  • Table
  • Data Bars
  • Single Value

Chart:

  • Column
  • Combo
  • Stacked Column
  • Area
  • Line
  • Pie
  • Comparison
  • Waterfall
  • Bubble
  • Scatter

Once you tap on the appropriate "Table/Chart", it will appear on the Card.

Tap once on on the chart block to reveal the Edit/Delete/Chart options. From here, tap on "Edit".

This opens the Chart Editor. Tap on the Plus (+) to select your Measure/Member.

 

Measure: A numerical value (i.e Sales($), Units(#), Margin(%))

Member:  A text or date value (i.e. Product Type, Region, City, Month)

Attribute: A text characteristic of a member (i.e. Email, Phone, Contact)

 

How do I create a “Calculated” Measure/Member?

 

Building a Table

Selecting Measures will open up your numerical groups. You can select single or multiple “measures”.

Selecting Attributes* will allow you to create a text attribute specific to a “member”. Once you have selected Attributes, tap on the Plus (+). Select theBase Dimension as the “member” you wish to add the specific “attribute” to. Select the Base Field as “attribute” you wish to map to the “member”. If you have multiple attributes in one member, it will select the first one. Once you have created the attributes, select them and tap Done.

 

*Attributes are only available in Layers, Catalist, PieView, and Cardex

 

Building a Data Bar

You can create a data bar table with multiple members using Rows and Columns. This will give a data bar for each member, using one measure.

You can also create a data bar table with just measures*. Leave Rows empty and select use the Columns to select your desired measure(s). These data bars will be summed up at each level.

*This is not applicable in the CardView. You can achieve a similar effect using a Single Value.

 

Building a Single Value

Selecting Value will open up your numerical groups. You can select single measure.

*Single Value is only available in Cardview. You can achieve a similar effect using a Table in other views.

 

Building a Column, Combo, Stacked Column, Area, or Line Chart

Selecting Measures will open up your numerical groups. You can select single or multiple “measures”. You can choose to select a Category Dimension or leave it blank.

Selecting Members will open up your text/date groups. Select desired “Dimension” and select desired “Members”*.

 *10 Member Max

You must choose a Y Value. You can choose to select a Category Dimension or leave it blank.

 

Building a Pie Chart

Selecting Measures will open up your numerical groups. Select desired “Measures”.

 Selecting Members will open up your text/date groups. Select desired “Dimension” and select desired “Members”.

*10 Member Max

You must choose a Y Value.

 

Building a Comparison Chart

For a Comparison Chart you can only select “Measures”. The measure you select for Bar is your colored bar, and Target will be the black line.

 

Building a Waterfall Chart

*Waterfall Charts are only available in the CardView.

Selecting Measures will open up your numerical groups. Select desired “Measures”.

Selecting Members will open up your text/date groups. Select desired “Dimension” and select desired “Members”.

 You must choose a Y Value.

 

Building a Scatter Chart

*Scatter Charts are only available in the CardView.

Selecting the Plus(+) will open up your Members. Select desired “Dimension” and select desired “Members”.

*10 Member Max 

 You must choose a Y Value and X Value. You can choose to select a Category Dimension or leave it blank.

You can also create a Scatter Chart without selecting a “Series”. Each point will be the same color. This method is typically used if you have more than 10 points.

 

Selecting the Category Dimension will open up your Members. Select desired Member, this is now your Series.

 You must choose a Y Value and X Value.

 

Building a Bubble Chart

*Bubble Charts are only available in the CardView.

Selecting the Plus(+) will open up your Members. Select desired “Dimension” and select desired “Members”.

*10 Member Max

You must choose a Y Value, X Value and Bubble Value. You can choose to select a Category Dimension or leave it blank.

You can also create a Bubble Chart without selecting a “Series”. Each point will be the same color. This method is typically used if you have more than 10 points.

 

Selecting the Category Dimension will open up your Members. Select desired Member, this is now your Series.

You must choose a Y Value and X Value and Bubble Value.

 

 

Titling your Table/Chart

 Tap on the selected chart and tap Info (i) to edit the title. You can also change your Alerts/Axis/Series(colors) from here.
