The SYBCTRL that build date is April 2016 or earlier doesn't support multibyte characters. SAP plans to support multibyte characters with SYBCTRL that build date is May 2016 and later.
The new version of SYBCTRL can handle multibyte characters in PRINT statement.
However if dump database command receives OS error in Japanese, you need to perform additional steps to output the Japanese OS error message correctly using SYBCTRL.
