Reproducing the Issue

  1. In Crystal Reports, create a report off any data source.
  2. Format a Database Field, or Text Object to use an Open Type Font (OFT), like: MyRiad Pro

Cause

  • Open Type Fonts (OTF) are not supported fonts when exporting to PDF format. Only True Type Fonts (TTF) are supported.

  • Since the Open Type Fonts are not supported to be embedded in PDF, Crystal Reports substitutes the fonts with the default True Type Font like: Arial. This is why the generated PDF document use a different font.

Resolution

  • In Crystal Reports, update the report to use True Type Fonts (TTF) instead of Open Type Fonts (OTF)
