2198822 - Error 247 is returned when running sp_addthreshold in a database - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Error 247 is returned when running sp_addthreshold on a database larger than the following:

    • 4 terabytes on a 2k page ASE server
    • 8 terabytes on a 4k page ASE server
    • 16 terabytes on a 8k page ASE server
    • 32 terabytes on a 16k page ASE server
       
  • For example:
     
         sp_addthreshold mydb, "default", 110843980, 'sp_run_threshold'
         go

    Returns this error message:

Msg 247, Level 16, State 1:
Server 'ASE', Procedure 'sp_addthreshold', Line 220:
Arithmetic overflow during implicit conversion of UNSIGNED INT value '2216879616' to a INT field.
(return status = -6)
