2082000 - processes (spids) become blocked by CHECKPOINT process -SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Users notice that their queries are blocked.
  • DBA notices that the CHECKPOINT process has hung.
  • ASE errorlog shows errors similar to:

Error: 1204, Severity: 17, State: 2
ASE has run out of LOCKS.
Error: 1204, Severity: 17, State: 2 occurred for User ''. Client IP address is 'Unknown'.
SQL Text: [no text]
Error: 1204, Severity: 17, State: 1 occurred for User ''. Client IP address is 'Unknown'.

ASE has run out of LOCKS.
