Resolution

  1. General Tips and Tricks
    • Enter specific search terms such as Transaction-IDMain Program, Function module, Class, Error message code, technical Field Name.
    • Less is more: Two or three search terms will usually give you the broadest results.
    • Avoid using generic words such as articles, prepositions.
    • Use copy & paste to avoid misspelling words, e.g. 'Mikrosoft Wort error'.
    • Experiment with different search methods

    • Wildcards like Asterisk (*) or question mark (?)
      • Search for key words with multiple endings by placing an asterisk (*) after your search term.
      • Example: The search term 'book*' finds documents including this word, such as 'bookshelf', 'bookcase'.
      • Search for key words by replacing a character with an question mark (?) .
      • Example: The search term 'f?rm' finds documents including words such as 'firm', 'form'.

    • All Terms (AND)
      • The result includes all terms entered.
      • Example: Search terms 'Word error cannot open'.
      • Result: Only those documents containing all terms ('word', 'error', 'cannot' and 'open') are found.

    • At Least One Term (OR)
      • The result include at least one of the entered search terms.
      • Example: Search terms 'Word error cannot open'.
      • Result: Only those documents containing at least one term ('word', 'error', 'cannot' or 'open') are found.

    • Exclude (NOT)
      • The result excludes the entered search term(s).
      • Example: Search terms: 'Word error cannot open NOT Excel'.
      • Result: Only those documents containing 'word', 'error', 'cannot' or 'open' and also do not contain 'Excel' are found.

    • Extended syntax
      • Several search methods can be combined, the operators AND, OR, NOT, PHRASE are supported.
      • Example: Search terms: 'Word error cannot open'.
      • Result: Only those documents containing 'word error cannot open' close together are found.

  2. Search Behavior

    • Linguistic
      • Language variants of the search term are taken into consideration with this search method.
      • Example: Search terms: 'Word error cannot open'.
      • Result: The system will also find documents containing words such as 'wording', 'wordy', 'can not', 'canoe', 'canon', 'opening', 'opener'.

    • Exact
      • This search method only finds occurrences of the exact search term.
