2046931 - Grey ABAP instance availability metrics - most common issues in technical monitoring with Solution Manager 7.1


In technical monitoring workcenter you have grey metrics for abap instance. This can have different causes and depending on the error message the solution is also different. This article explains the most common issues.

In case you are getting only sporadic alerts (red alert which turns green after fiew minutes), you can change the Threshold of the affected metric from “Already Rated” to “Already Rated (best rating of blast n measurements)”. In this case single sporadic failures would not generate alerts and this would reduce the possibility of getting false alerts.

  1. RFC Ping failed
  2. Cannot connect to sapstartsrv
  3. No process found for msg_server
  4. Running but message server unavailable
