You want to know why the report sent As E-Mail Attachment cannot be opened directly from the Email.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Business Analytics work center.
- Go to the Design Reports view.
- Open any report XXX (XXX represents the name of the report) which you want to send As E-Mail Attachment.
- Click on GO.
- Now click on Send and select the As E-Mail Attachment option.
User receives the report as an attachment to his/her E-mail but is unable to open it. The user has to save it to his/her desktop to be able to open it.
When sending the report As E-Mail Attachment, the system will use the report name as the file attachment name. There is a limitation in the file name at Microsoft side - 218 characters, so if the report name is too long, the report cannot be opened from the Email directly but has to be saved locally first.
Use WinRAR/Winzip as the default application for .zip files to access the reports from the attachment.
