Symptom
In Adaptive Server Enterprise version 15.0 and later, all tables have at least one partition, whether or not a partition was explicitly defined on the table. When data is accessed from a table, necessary partitions are kept open. This error indicates that there is not enough room to open a new partition.
When database run outs of table partitions, the client session will encountering the problem and receives an error message:
Msg 14126, Level 17, State 2:
Couldn't find an available partition descriptor. Raise the value of the configuration parameter 'number of open partitions' for more partition descriptors.
However, no message is printed in ASE's errorlog. This means that the ASE's administrator may not be aware of the problem unless a user told them.
