1521423 - No Payment Approval is Generated After Releasing a Payment.

Symptom

When you execute a payment from a payment proposal or a manual outgoing payment no payment approval is generated.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Payables work centre.
  2. Go to the Automatic Payments view.
  3. Select a payment proposal in preparation, click the Actions button and select the option Execute Payment.

Or

  1. Go to the Payment Management work centre.
  2. Click on New Outgoing Check or New Outgoing Bank Transfer link from the Common Tasks pane.
  3. Click the Release button.

No payment approval is generated, the payment is created and the payment order is transferred to the Payment Monitor view available in the work centers Payment Management or Liquidity Management in status ready for transfer.

Cause

There are 2 reasons why a payment approval is not generated when an outgoing payment in initiated:

  1. The amount of the payment is lower than the threshold defined in Business Configuration.
  2. The payment order is created by a business user which has also approval rights assigned.

Resolution

To check the threshold amount defined in Business Configuration:

  1. Open the optional Fine Tuning activity Business Task management for Payment and Liquidity Management.
  2. Click the link Payment Approvals for Outgoing Payments.
  3. Check if a relevant payment approval rule is defined if yes for which company it is defined and what is the level of the threshold amount defined. If the payment amount is lower than the threshold amount, no payment approval is generated.

To check if the business user who creates an outgoing payment has payment approval assigned check if the Managing my Area work centre assigned:

  1. Go to the Application and User Management work centre.
  2. Go to the User and Access management view.
  3. Go to the Business Users subview.
  4. Select the business user who creates the outgoing payment and check if the Managing my Area work centre is assigned to the business user in the Detail zone on the tab Assigned Work centres and Views.

If you still want to trigger a payment approval for a payment initiated by a business user with the Managing my Area work centre, you can maintain an Employee Distribution Rule for the payment approval:

  1. Go to the Application and User Management work centre.
  2. Go to the Task Distribution view.
  3. Go to the Employee Distribution subview.
  4. Maintain a rule or the payment approval (the business user maintained in the rule needs to have the Managing my Area work centre assigned)
