1216130 - Using ODBC version 02 database drivers in Crystal Reports Designer and BOE as well as SDK's

In Crystal Reports Designer connecting to a data source using an ODBC version 02 ( ANSI 89 standard ) database driver can cause one of the following error messages to appear:

"No items found"

"There are no fields in the file"

and may cause CR to crash

Crystal Reports Designer CR 9 and above

These error messages appear because a registry setting must be created on the computer for ODBC version 02 database drivers to work correctly.

Using the Registry Editor can cause serious problems that may require reinstalling the operating system. Crystal Decisions is not responsible for any problems resulting from using the Windows Registry Editor. Use the Registry

Editor at your own risk. It is recommended that you back up the registry before you edit it.

Add a Registry Value

1. On the 'Start' menu, click 'Run'.

2. Type 'Regedit' in the 'Open' combo-box, and then click 'OK'.

3. Expand the registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crystal Decisions\9.0\Crystal Reports\Database\ODBC

For CR 2011 and 2013 use this key on a 64 bit OS:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\Database\ODBC

4. If ODBC does not exist add that key also then right-click the 'ODBC' key, and then click 'New' > 'String Value'. Name the new string value 'ODBC Behavior'.

5. Right-click the 'ODBC Behavior' string value, and then click 'Modify'.

6. Enter '2' in the 'Value Data' text box, and then click 'OK'.

This will cause all ODBC drivers on the computer to behave with ODBC 02 functionality and ANSI 89 syntax.
